The military is held in high regard in Otso, as the guarantor of the nation’s independence; although memories of WW2 and even the Cold War are fading, there is still a cultural sense of the threat that outsiders can pose and the Armed Forces are regarded as the shield against that threat. Additionally, their involvement in UN missions is seen as a positive contribution both to stability in the wider world, and as a good advertisement for Otsonian values.Temp
